Our Story

From Terroir to Transformation

From Terroir to Transformation

Founded in 2001, Confirel transforms Cambodian agricultural resources into food and beverage products rooted in Khmer culture and built for contemporary markets — connecting terroir, rural know-how, quality control and product innovation into real value, locally and beyond.

Confirel's model is simple: Cambodian ingredients, transformed locally, held to international standards — from raw material to a product ready for the shelf, at home or abroad.

The places behind our work

Confirel begins with four Cambodian origins. Their distinct ingredients shape everything we make.

Dr Hay Ly Eang, Founder of Confirel, 2001

The people behind the transformation

Behind every Confirel product is a network of Cambodian people — farmers and collectors in the provinces, and more than 100 staff at Confirel's Phnom Penh facility who process, package and quality-check what reaches the table. Confirel is not only a brand or a factory; it is Cambodians building a value chain, together.

25 Years of Applied Innovation

25 Years of Applied Innovation

Working with CIRAD experts, Dr Hay Ly Eang developed a filtration and stabilisation system for Thnot palm sap that improved purity, prevented premature fermentation and preserved the sap's qualities. This breakthrough made it possible to produce palm sugar meeting international food safety standards — opening the way to certification, export markets and the Palme d'Or at Natexpo Paris in 2005.

Confirel's first innovation was to make Thnot palm sap safer, stable and ready for modern markets. Since then, the same approach — science, transformation and rural value — has grown the portfolio to more than 300 product formats, most recently with a patented new use for the Kampot pepper plant, told in From Kampot Pepper Inflorescence to Herbal Infusion.
