Innovation to Boost Competitiveness

Cambodia's Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, partnering with the Food Technology, Research and Innovation Platform, has launched guidelines for the Cambodia Enterprise Innovation Index (CEII) -- a measurement tool to evaluate and strengthen enterprise innovation capabilities, boosting competitiveness and sustainable economic development.

Minister Hem Vanndy stressed that prioritizing innovation enhances Cambodia's standing in the Global Innovation Index and fosters inclusive growth. The CEII, part of the EU-funded CAPFISH-Capture project implemented by UNIDO, was adopted in August 2024 by the National Council for Science, Technology and Innovation.

The index addresses Cambodia's advantages, including a youthful demographic, expanding digital infrastructure, and improved technology access. UNIDO Representative Sok Narin emphasized that strong innovation metrics attract investment and boost productivity across emerging sectors.

PPM Confirel Group, founded in the 1990s by Dr Hay Ly Eang, views this initiative as beneficial for advancing creativity and workforce development within Cambodia's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
